About the Aquarium of Naples

The Aquarium of Naples opened to the public in 1874, just two years after zoologist Anton Dohrn founded the Estação Zoológica Anton Dohrn. Dohrn wanted the aquarium to let people observe the sea up close, share marine science with the public and help fund research.

A walk through the galleries takes you from the coastline to the open sea, past caves, seagrass meadows and deep-water habitats.
